Drake’s student health insurance policy for the 2014-15
academic year is as follows: Domestic Students
Beginning August 1, 2014, Drake will not
offer a voluntary domestic student health insurance plan. Enrollment in the Drake offered voluntary domestic student health insurance plan has been very low for the last three years. Insurers are not willing to offer a voluntary plan beginning August 1, 2014.
Other health insurance options that domestic students may be eligible for are: public state or federal exchange plans, individual insurance plans, high risk pool plans, a parent's plan if under the age of 26 or a catastrophic plan for those between the ages of 26 to 30. International students will automatically be enrolled in the student health insurance plan at a rate of $1,340. This premium will automatically be charged to your student account. To enroll international student dependent(s) and/or spouse into the insurance plan, please contact the Drake International Center at 515-271-2084. Students wishing to purchase a meal plan may do so by contacting Drake Dining Services at 515-271-3175.
Parking in campus lots during the summer will require vehicle registration and a no-cost permit. Permits may be obtained duirng the summer orientation period. Students wishing to park in campus lots during the fall/spring semesters will be required to purchase a parking permit from the Student Accounts Office in Old Main during fall orientation. A large parking lot is conveniently located south of Forest Avenue between 24th and 25th Streets.
