Hi! I’m Michelle Rasmussen and I am a law student at Drake University Law School. I am originally from Idaho Falls, Idaho and graduated from Boise State University with my bachelors in Criminal Justice.
I chose to attend Drake University for several reasons. Drake’s location in Des Moines offers tremendous opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the state legislative system and court system. Presently, I am interning with the Legislative Services Agency at the state capitol
. This internship was made possible through the legislative practice program offered at Drake. During this spring session, I will be working alongside state representatives drafting bills and conducting research projects
. Last summer, I stayed in Des Moines, and interned with the Polk County Housing Trust Fund
where I authored papers on the latest issues in affordable housing and community development. Both of these internship opportunities were made possible through connections I made while attending Drake. I also chose Drake because of its generous scholarship opportunities. Affordability was very important to me when selecting a law school and I was pleased that Drake rewards academic achievement
My favorite part of attending Drake is the supportive professors, students, and staff. The partnership atmosphere
helps to encourage academic achievement and personal growth. The longer I am in Des Moines, the happier I am with my decision to attend Drake. If you spend time talking to any of our professors or students, you will see what I mean.
