Undergraduate Institution: University of VirginiaHow did Drake Law prepare you for your career?
Drake really pushes practical experience. “Getting your feet wet” is an understatement! As a student attorney in the Drake Legal Clinic for more than three semesters, I was able to interact with clients at an early stage – an invaluable experience for any future lawyer. Looking back, it definitely changed the course of my legal career. I went to school to pursue sports and entertainment law, but I discovered a passion for family law and pro bono legal services. The experiences I had as a student attorney in Drake’s Legal Clinic taught me how to use my law degree for something greater than myself. What information would you like to share with a prospective Drake Law student?
If you want to learn how to practice law and get a lot of experience in a very supportive environment, go to Drake! You will be able to explore all of your interests in the law, which will help you design your future legal career objectives. A few things that enhanced my experience were the small class size, the faculty’s open door policy and the availability of meaningful local internships. Drake Law alumni really take you under their wing to help you progress in the profession.
