Hello. My name is Pedro Salazar, and I am a law student. I was born in Arequipa, Peru
and came to the United States as a high school exchange student in Mount Vernon, Iowa. I attended Wartburg College as an International Student and earned Bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Political Science. After graduation, I worked for Wells Fargo and State Farm Insurance for a few years and earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Drake University
My decision to attend Drake Law was quite simple. Drake Law is located in the capital city; it has an outstanding faculty; and it has a great reputation in the community. During my law school tour, I also realized that Drake Law has a sense of community I had not seen in other schools. I knew it was the right fit.
I have had a rewarding legal experience during law school. I clerked at a small Des Moines general practice firm during my 1L summer
. Throughout my 2L year, I worked closely with the law school’s Career Development Office and attended different job fairs in the Midwest. As a result of that opportunity, I obtained a summer associate position at a large Omaha firm for my 2L summer which ultimately resulted in being offered full-time employment upon my graduation
. I have also participated in the Drake Legal Clinic as a student attorney and have been a member of the Hispanic Law Students Association.
Attending Drake Law has been a challenging experience (yes, law school is not easy), but our faculty has always been there to guide me and support me.
I am very pleased with my decision to attend Drake Law and I am sure that if you visit our school
, you will also notice why Drake Law is the right choice for your legal education.
