Philosophy Made Real"Law is philosophy made real. Our philosophical commitments are revealed by existing law and challenged by the question of what the law should be. Law school is an opportunity to penetrate the surface of the law and think deeply about the shape it has and will take. I teach not only because I take great pleasure in thinking about the presuppositions of legal positions, but because it is important to do so. A lawyer who understands all that is at stake in our profession will be both more effective and more responsible. |
