Admitted Student Information


FAFSA Information 
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1. Obtain and submit the FAFSA electronically at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The FAFSA is required before financial aid packages can be determined.

Health Insurance 
Drake University requires Student Health Insurance. Insurance can be purchased through Drake University. The insurance is administered by The Chickering Group and provided by Aetna. For more information about this insurance please visit the Dean of Students web site regarding Student Insurance or call their office at 515-271-2835.

Technology Information
Laptops are not required, however, they are used by the majority of law students.
Students using the wireless network must be running Windows XP, Mac OS X v10.2, or a newer operating system. Students running older systems may access the Law School network through ethernet connections in the Law Library, but will not be able to use laptops for exams.

Housing Information

Drake University on-campus graduate and professional student housing.
       Opening Fall 2008 - Drake West Village

Drake University offers two sources for information regarding off-campus housing. 

Drake Real Estate
is the rental office for University-owned off-campus housing and can be reached at 1-800-44-DRAKE, extension 2196, or 515-271-2196. 
                   
Drake Landlord Tenant Association compiles lists of available rentals in the Drake area and can be reached at 1-800-44-DRAKE, extension 3711, or 515-271-3711.

In addition, several apartment complexes very close to campus are popular choices of law students. Further information can be obtained by contacting:

*Off-campus housing in the Drake area is popular among students, and waiting lists are common; therefore, it is important to make contacts as soon as possible.

Once you have chosen a place to live, it will be necessary to make arrangements for utilities. You may reach the telephone company, Qwest, at (515) 286-5010, MidAmerican Energy at (888) 427-5632, and the Des Moines Water Works at (515) 283-8700.

Final Transcripts
All students must request official final transcripts be sent from their degree-granting institution directly to Drake Law School, the Office of Admission.    
LSDAS transcripts that had been sent earlier in the year are not acceptable.

Important Dates for Admitted Students

Acceptance Deposits
All applicants accepted for admission must submit two $150 seat deposits to reserve a space in the class
The first is due by the date specified in the letter of acceptance.
The second seat deposit is required by June 1
