Drake Law student Kelly Nuckolls prepared a set of resources designed to help farmers take advantage of a tax credit that rewards them for donating fresh meat and veggies to Iowa's food pantries and emergency food organizations. March 31, 2015

Neil Hamilton spoke to over 300 attendees at the Iowa Water Conference in Ames on Tuesday March 3, 2015 about the legal issues and implications of the Des Moines Water Works potential lawsuit against drainage districts in 3 northwest Iowa counties for polluting the water with excess nitrates. In his remarks Hamilton presents the legal issues involved in the case, discusses the background of the controversy, and offers some suggestions for future actions.

The Drake University Agricultural Law Center is the recipient of one of 17 Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture grants. Drake will host four regional workshops and a two-day conference on conservation policy in Iowa. January 30, 2015

In response to years of growing interest by military veterans, the Farmer Veteran Coalition and the Drake University Agricultural Law Center are convening the first ever National Stakeholders Conference, November 14-15, 2014 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Drake University Agricultural Law Center and the Greater Des Moines Buy Fresh Buy Local Campaign will be assisting with efforts to put more fresh fruits and vegetables on the plates of Iowa families in need through two upcoming events: The Plant a Mile Volunteer Day, on Thursday, Aug. 7, and with Meals From the Market on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014.

Matt Russell, State Food Policy Coordinator at Drake University, was involved in national conversation on climate change where he discussed growing “Food Security” worries for Iowa and the rest of the Nation. U.S. Secretary Tom Vilsack visited the Drake University Agricultural Law Center on April 22, 2014 to meet with Prof. Neil Hamilton, director of the Center, to discuss current projects and to reaffirm the historic relation between USDA and Drake University.
