The Drake Law Library is proud to present a collection of works by Dwight W. James from January-March.

Dwight W. James is a 1961 graduate of the Drake Law School and since that time has been active in the private practice of law in Des Moines as a trial lawyer and currently as a mediator of civil disputes.

For many years he has tried to balance life through family, gardening, bicycling and skiing. Throughout that time he has been an amateur painter. Although he is largely a self-taught artist, he has attended many workshops and classes. He paints primarily for personal enjoyment. The law is a jealous mistress and Dwight believes that it is important to pursue other interests in order to get away from the rigors of the law.

Dwight has a studio in the Fitch Building where he is moving into other media such as oil and acrylic painting on canvas.

The Drake Law Library would like to invite students, faculty and staff to display their art in the library. The library provides a showcase for rotating art exhibits in the open reading area at the top of the 2nd floor stairs. If you are an artist who’d like to share your work with the Drake Law School community, please contact Deborah Sulzbach.
