First-year Drake students offering "Cuba, Coffee and Conversation"
Drake students in Matt Russell’s first-year seminar course, “Cuba in Transition” are extending an invitation for anyone interested in discussing Cuba with other community members.
Russell, state food policy project coordinator at Drake Agricultural Law Center, says, “The informal event is meant to be an opportunity for people to share ideas about how US-Cuban relations are changing. We hope people who have been to Cuba will share stories and talk with others who may want to go.”
The event will take place at Plymouth United Church of Christ in Des Moines on Tuesday, Dec. 4 from 3:45-4:45 p.m. Plymouth took a group of Iowans to Cuba last spring so there is a natural connection for the group.
A group of Drake Agricultural Law Center and the Drake Law School students went to Cuba last January and another group will be going in January 2013 to study legal aspects of Cuban agriculture.
Students will be serving complimentary coffee and Cuban Christmas cookies.
