Two New Faces Join the Drake University Law School Staff

Sarah Johnson and Ann Van Hemert are three months into their new positions at Drake University Law School. They join an already stellar staff and faculty who are not only experts in their fields but also committed to growing the next generation of leaders in the legal profession.

Sarah Johnson
Sarah is the major gift officer and started in mid-July. She joins Drake Law after working for the Iowa State Foundation. According to Dean Vestal, “Sarah is a skillful and determined advocate for the law school. Our graduates are really going to enjoy working with her.” A primary function for Sarah is to promote philanthropy as an avenue that enables Drake University Law School to achieve excellence in its student-centered and practice-oriented academic mission. “It’s been a pleasure joining the faculty and staff of Drake Law. Each day I am more impressed with the passion and commitment of our faculty, staff, alumni, friends and students.”

Ann Van Hemert
Ann is working with the marketing/communications and alumni affairs portions of the law school. “Drake Law School has an outstanding reputation. To see the inner-workings and to hear the stories of alumni around the country, ‘outstanding’ is an understatement.” Ann was the director of alumni relations at Central College in Pella prior to starting this position in late-July. Dean Vestal commented, “Ann brings a wealth of experience, a keen intellect and a collegial manner to this position. I know she will offer new energy to our alumni efforts.”

Both look forward to meeting and developing rapport with the alumni and friends of Drake Law.
