Shannon Redd honored by National Bar Association
Shannon Redd, LW’10, has been recognized as a Trailblazer Under 40 by the National Bar Association (NBA). Redd currently serves as Staff Attorney and Training Manager D.C. Bar Association Pro Bono Program.
The Trailblazers Under 40 Awards honors legal trailblazers who have achieved prominence and distinction in their fields of endeavor — be it the practice of law, academia, business, civic and charitable affairs, the judiciary, or politics — and who have demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing the goals and mission of the National Bar Association.
“The National Bar Association is comprised of hundreds of capable and accomplished attorneys,” said Patricia Rosier, President of the National Bar Association. “We are proud of all of our members, particularly this distinguished group of young attorneys who are rising in the ranks of their profession that are preparing to receive the torch of civil rights."
It was at Drake Law Redd decided to pursue pro bono work.
“I went to school to pursue sports and entertainment law,” says Redd. “Through my experiences as student attorney in the Drake Legal Clinic, I discovered a passion for family law and pro bono legal services.”
The National Bar Association will honor awardees during the Trailblazers Under 40 Gala on July 26 in Atlanta, Georgia during the organization’s 89th Annual Convention.
In addition, Redd is an honoree for the Humanitarian Award by the NBA Young Lawyers Division (YLD). She will be presented with the award at the 26th Annual Junius W. Williams Annual Awards Luncheon on July 28, as part of the conference.
“Shannon exhibited a real passion for helping people and a love for the law when she worked as a student attorney at the Drake Legal Clinic,” said Jerry Foxhoven, executive director of clinical programs. “It doesn’t surprise any of us here that her practical experience, passion and legal skills have made her stand out as an exceptional lawyer and person.”
