What We Do For You
The Career Development Office (CDO) at Drake University Law School is committed to providing first-rate, proactive assistance to all students and alumni in their job search process. We make it a priority to provide individual attention, direction, and enthusiasm. At Drake Law School, Career Development is a partnership between a student and a counselor. The CDO empowers students to have control over his or her individual job search whether local or national, and the CDO gives them the skills to achieve their goals through individual counseling, informative workshops, written and electronic resources, an expansive alumni network, thousands of job postings, a mock interview program, and organized networking opportunities. From this empowerment, you will find the ethical, confident, and assertive attorney Drake Law School is known for producing in accordance with its mission.

The Career Development Office is also committed to helping employers meet their staffing needs, while promoting the recruitment of its students. We provide several efficient and accessible avenues for employers to reach our students and alumni from job postings and resume collection services to On-Campus Interviews, and we dedicate ourselves to the creation of more ways to make the connection between employers and our students.

Comprehensive Skills Program
The career office has created a comprehensive skills program to provide students and alumni with the resources necessary for a successful, self-directed career in order to help students and alumni take control of their own futures. This program includes:

    Job Postings
    Over 500 job listings are posted in the Career Development Office annually including clerking jobs, attorney positions and non-law professional opportunities for students and alumni. Click here for web access to current job postings.

    Newsletter
    An electronic newsletter, Career Brief, is produced every month with information of interest to students and alumni, including fellowships, volunteer opportunities, information about the bar exam, summer opportunities and the job search.

    Reciprocity
    Reciprocal agreements with selected law schools give Drake students access to a national database of job listings.

    Recruiting Programs
    Students have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of on-campus interviews and recruiting conferences nation-wide, including Chicago, Washington, D.C., Boston and Minneapolis.

    Resource Library
    Drake provides extensive resources for individual employment searches. Career Development also maintains a comprehensive library of job search materials. Complimentary use of a computer and phone access is also available.
